Nomination to the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC) Sociologist/Anthropologist Core Committee Member
The Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC) was created to efficiently and effectively implement the Republic Act 11223 or the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act, through the assessment of health technologies. This aims to ensure the rational utilization of various health technologies that will be funded by the government, through its recommendations on COVID-19 technologies, urgent DOH National Program topics, and other minor inclusion requests for drugs and vaccines already listed in the Philippine National Formulary (PNF).
The HTAC has been informing government procurement decisions through its recommendations on COVID-19 technologies, urgent DOH National Program topics and other minor inclusion requests for drugs and vaccines already listed in the Philippine National Formulary. The HTAC has also been continually developing its stakeholder engagement processes and will be incorporating Philippine social values in its assessments. In line with this, the DOH is starting the call for nominations for one (1) position to the Sociologist/Anthropologist Core Committee Member with the following functions:
- Voting member responsible for the development and submission of final recommendations to policy and decision-makers, based on the evidence appraisal of the different subcommittees following the HTAC’s decision framework
- Will follow all functions stipulated in Administrative Order 2020-0041 or The New Implementing Guidelines on Health Technology Assessment to Guide Funding Allocation and Coverage Decisions in support of Universal Health Care
Given the crucial role of the Council in evidence-based recommendations the HTAC member should be a person of moral and intellectual integrity, and a recognized specialist in their respective field of expertise.
