Dr. Maria Rhona G. Bergantin is an Associate Professor at the University of Santo Tomas  Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (UST-FMS). She is a  fellow of both the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) and Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (PSMID). She obtained her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas and completed her Masters of Science in Virology from the Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom. She is the Co-chair of the Curriculum Committee and has served as Research Committee Chair of the PSMID and also a former  member of the editorial board of the PSMID Journal. She is the training officer of the Adult Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program of the UST Hospital  and also serves as a member of the Institutional Biosafety Committee of UST. She is an external reviewer of the UST Hospital  Research Ethics Committee and a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the UST FMS. She has been part of the Technical Working Group and Consensus Panel Member of the Philippine Clinical Guidelines for Leptospirosis, Pneumonia, Tuberculosis and COVID.
