LUZ BARBARA P. DONES, MPH, RN
LUZ BARBARA P. DONES received her degrees in Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Public Health in the University of the Philippines. She is an Associate Professor teaching Public Health Nursing courses at the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Prof. Dones’ research interests focus on Human Resources for Health. She did a field validation study of public health nurses’ competencies that became one of the basis of the Philippines’ National Nursing Core Competency Standards in 2012. She has just completed a multidisciplinary research on “Determining the Required Skill Mix to Deliver Primary Health Care Services Across Various Rural and Urban Communities”. Research publications include “Issues in Nursing Education Management in the Philippines” and “Preliminary Survey on Work Environment of Nurses” in the Philippine Journal of Nursing. She is one of the contributors of the book “Nursing Practice in the Community”, a textbook reference for nursing students in the Philippines. Prof. Dones was the Project Director of the Cambodia Nurse Bridging Project, a bridging program to upgrade Associate Degree in Nursing to Baccalaureate Degree in the University of Health Sciences, Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 2013-2015.
