Dr. Josefina A. Tuazon is past dean and retired professor at the College of Nursing, University of the Philippines Manila, and head of the WHO Collaborating Center for Leadership in Nursing Development from 2004 – 2010. She obtained her Masters in Nursing degree and her Doctorate of Public Health (Major in Health Education and Promotion) degree from the same university and was a travel grantee for the UK- Southeast Asia Partners in Science Collaboration Award by the British High Commission in Singapore in 2013. An adult health nursing specialist and public health educator, her research and advocacy relate to prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases and tobacco control. Among her notable achievements is the WHO-DOH project on Development of a Training Manual for Health Workers in Promoting Healthy Lifestyle as part of the DOH national program and became WHO short-term consultant to provide technical assistance on NCD prevention. This was also published in the Philippine Journal of Nursing in 2004 where she served as its primary author. She has more than 20 years of experience in international and multidisciplinary networking through the Global Nursing Network of WHO Collaborating Centers for Nursing and Midwifery, Asia Pacific Emergency and Disaster Nursing Network where she was a founding member in 2007 and secretariat in 2012-2014, past Chairperson of the East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars, and visiting professor to two universities in Tokyo and Bangkok. She is currently a member of the CHED Technical Evaluators for Nursing Education and panel chair of the UPM Review Ethics Board.
