The Secretary of Health (SOH) concurs with the final recommendation of the HTA Council on ezetimibe [10 mg tablet] for the treatment of hyperlipidemia as an adjunct to maximally-tolerated statin therapy through Department of Health (DOH) Department Circular No. 2026-0422 “Inclusion of Ezetimibe 10 mg tablet in the Philippine National Drug Formulary” published on 20 July 2026.
As a final recommendation, the HTA Council recommends the government financing of ezetimibe [10 mg tablet] for the treatment of hyperlipidemia as an adjunct to maximally-tolerated statin therapy, specifically for:
- high-risk individuals (i.e., with diabetes, with familial hypercholesterolemia, and with other risk factors1) who have not reached 70 mg/dL or lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)
- very high-risk individuals (i.e., with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease [ASCVD], with familial hypercholesterolemia, and with other risk factors1) who have not reached 55 mg/dL or lower LDL-C
1male, smoker, hypertensive with ≥140/90 mmHg, BMI of 25 kg/m2, family history of premature coronary heart disease, proteinuria, left ventricular hypertrophy, and postmenopausal women
